12/08/2025 – Talk: “Software Engineering for Ontologies and Knowledge Graphs” by Eduard Kamburjan

Eduard Kamburjan will discuss the software quality perspective of ontology engineering and knowledge graph construction.

SPEAKER: Eduard Kamburjan, Assist. Prof. at ITU.

TITLE: Software Engineering for Ontologies and Knowledge Graphs

ABSTRACT: Knowledge graphs and ontologies are used for their promise of data and knowledge quality. The disciplines concerned with their creation, Ontology Engineering and Knowledge Graph Construction, rely on elaborate methodologies and software tools to ensure this quality. In this talk we discuss the software quality perspective on OE and KGC: How can the used tools, in particular reasoners and API, be tested? How can KGC pipelines be analyzed? We present first results on both accounts and discuss bugs in Apache Jena, the OWL-API, HermiT, ELK, Openllet and the RDF-TTL 1.2 standard, which we found during our investigations.
